Wool — most chemically sensitive fiber. Requires pH-neutral chemistry. Alkaline pre-sprays cause fiber damage and color alteration. Moisture-controlled extraction prevents shrinkage.

Olefin — prone to wicking. Dissolved soil resurfaces from the backing during drying. Requires post-drying inspection and possible follow-up spot treatment.

Pre-Spray and Dwell

pH-matched pre-conditioner is applied and allowed to dwell — 5 to 8 minutes for light soil load, up to 15 minutes for heavy. Pre-spray breaks the electrostatic bond between soil particles and fiber before extraction begins. Agitation

A grooming tool works pre-spray chemistry deeper into the pile and lifts compressed fiber. Without agitation, pre-spray remains at the pile surface rather than reaching the fiber base where dust mites, bacteria, and heavy soil are concentrated. Hot Water Extraction
